I love helping young people reach their best potentials. I taught at Tidewater Community College for four years in their Business Department. I, also, was a tutor at Kempsville Middle School for three years helping students prepare for
the Standard of Learning exams (SOLs). I realized this was what I loved doing most - working with students on a one
on one basis. It is a great joy to hear and see the success stories of the students I help.
I believe I have the instructional techniques and comprehension measurement tools to enhance student participation,
increase absorption of class materials and help provide a learning experience. Students need to know you care, especially the young ones. It's my belief- students are truly reached when they know how much you love and care about them.
English has always been my favorite subject in school since middle school. I have excellent communication skills in
vocabulary building, pronunciation, and reading. I always proof read material before releasing it. I am a firm believer
that a quiet place is needed for comprehension. In order to get the best results from studying or reading and good grades, etc, it is important
to provide an environment for good comprehension.
I look forward to working with students to enlighten them and helping them to enhance their efforts and get those high test scores. I will
work with students up to 12th grade in reading, English but prefer to work with elementary age for math tutoring. If a cancellation is
needed, please do so within 24 hours of scheduled session. If for some reason I cannot make a session, I will, also, cancel 24 hours in
advance. I love helping young people reach their best potentials. I taught at Tidewater Community College for four years in their Business Department. I, also, was a tutor at Kempsville Middle School for three years helping students prepare for

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
