I have been an elementary educator for 5 years. During that time, I taught 4th grade, 4/5 multigrade, and ESL. Prior to teaching at the elementary level, I taught undergraduate English and psychology coursework at Grace University. The focus of my teaching in English was composition, foundational writing, and non-Western literature. During my tenure at Grace, I started the Academic Resource Center to provide tutoring support for undergraduate and graduate-level students.
I enjoy tutoring because it allows me to come alongside students to help them develop specific skill sets and provide a scaffold for success. In addition to my elementary education certification, I also hold a Bachelor of Arts in English from Creighton University and a Graduate Certificate in TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) from University of Nebraska-Omaha.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
