Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Dyslexia

I taught fourth grade for three years at The Carroll School, a school for students with language-based learning disabilities (such as dyslexia) in Waltham, MA. During my time at Carroll, I was trained in programs such as Orton-Gillingham, RAVE-O, and Project Read. Amongst other subjects, I taught a daily one-on-one and small group reading (decoding and comprehension) class and a small group writing class. As a learning specialist at Fay School, in Southborough, MA, I met individually with students with dyslexia to support them in their academic classes.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have an M.Ed. in Elementary Education from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. I have experience working with many types of learners in general education and special education environments. I was an intern in 4th and 6th grade classrooms in a high achieving private school, as a fourth-grade teacher at a school with language-based learning disabilities, and as a learning specialist, supporting diverse learners in grades 3-6.
