Hello! My name is Matthias. I am a native born German, however I have also lived in Nicaragua, Australia, Papua New Guinea, and currently in Charlottesville, VA.
I have an insatiable passion for learning, as well as, giving back to the community. Having lived and traveled in various places around the world, I have had the opportunity to learn about many different cultures and languages. Throughout my life, I have learned that having an open-mind is the key for success. It is with my personal background and open-minded approach towards learning that I look forward to teaching students.
I am generally available for lessons every day between 8am until the evening. I am self-employed and can offer a flexible schedule, either traveling the home or conduct lessons online. Rates vary as tutoring needs often change or alter. I offer discounts on lesson packages and for online lessons. We can always discuss the details and find an agreement.
My linguistic focus is in German (my native language, L1), Spanish (13 years experience, L3), and English (20 years experience, L2). I have a Bachelors of Arts in Linguistics (Romance Philology) and am a certified Spanish teacher.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
