Hi! I am a recent graduate of James Madison University and have just begun graduate school working towards my Master's in Elementary Education. I am so passionate about working with children and helping them grow and succeed. Over the past two years, I have gained valuable experience as a student teacher, and have learned so much from the students with whom I have worked. When not in school during the summers, I have worked as a Residential Instructor and Teaching Assistant at a residential school in Keswick, VA for students with mild to moderate learning, behavioral, and intellectual disabilities.
I find so much joy in working with students, specifically grades K-6, and helping them reach their full potential. All children have something so great to offer- sometimes all they need is a little push in the right direction! I'm excited to help you get there!
Math can often be a tricky, sometimes scary, subject. I, myself, had anxiety about understanding certain math topics as a child. However, as I have grown as both a student and an educator, I have allowed myself to look at math through several different perspectives to find the one that works best for me. I hope to help you do the same, and realize that math can actually be fun!
English has always been a favorite subject of mine, however, I understand that is not true for everyone! I hope to help you find new and exciting ways to realize that English, reading, and writing can be intriguing and fun. There are so many games, web quests, audio books, and more that can help you strengthen your English and reading comprehension skills. Let's explore together and find what works best for you!
I spent four years studying Elementary Education, teaching strategies, differentiation techniques, and exciting and innovative ways to teach all subjects at the K-6 level. I earned a degree in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies, minoring in Elementary Education. This gave me exposure to all subjects and allowed me to see education through a variety of lenses. As I wrap up my final year of graduate school, I hope to share with you all that I have learned and practiced throughout my own journey to help you succeed!
I can't wait to work with you and help you find ways to make learning fun! Hi! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I recently graduated from James Madison University with a degree in Interdisciplinary Liberal Studies and a minor in Elementary Education. I have started graduate school and will finish May 2017 with my Master's in Elementary Education. I have learned several strategies, teaching methods, and hands-on learning ideas for students of all ages and personalities. In addition, I have worked for two years as a Residential Instructor for students ages 6-13 with mild to moderate learning, behavioral, and intellectual disabilities. This experience, in addition to student teaching, has given me several hands-on opportunities to work with children of the elementary level and help them grow and reach their full potential.
