About Leslie

Teaching has been a passion all my life. I began tutoring as an undergraduate, and continued through my graduate studies. I have more than 20 years of experience teaching at the college level, and can help you with your writing and reading to prepare for the SATs or your college studies. If you need help with pronunciation correction, I am here to assist you. If you wish to build vocabulary and improve your English grammar, you will receive guidance from me. If you need assistance with art history, that is also my area of expertise.

My experience includes working with high school, beginning college students, and graduate students. I have tutored people in writing, reading, ESL and English pronunciation. In addition to that, I have taught public speaking for 18 plus years to both native and non-native speakers of English. In addition to my knowledge of writing and reading, with a Master's degree in Art History, I am extremely well versed on the subject of art. I am a seasoned art educator with experience teaching people about art in museums and contemporary art galleries. I can teach the novice to the learned student of art to make their understanding of art more enjoyable.

I will gear each lesson to your particular needs, whether you are a high school student or a college student. Your challenges are of utmost importance to me and helping you overcome them will be my greatest reward.

I look forward to working with you and to your success in college and beyond.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Public Speaking

I was an instructor of public speaking at the college level for more than 18 years. A student of mine won first place for her persuasive speech in a CUNY-wide competition. I myself have been a professional public speaker, providing tours at a major museum, and independently in slide lectures and tours of museums and galleries in New York City.

SAT Writing

I am a published author of art criticism and drama. I have also taught writing at the college level.
