My name is Shane and I have been working in the design field for over 8 years now. As a Landscape Architect I must be extremely proficient in design applications like photoshoop, illustrator and indesign. Additionally, there is a technical aspect to the profession that requires in depth knowledge of the autodesk suite for programs like autoCAD and 3D modeling programs like Rhino, 3ds Max, Maya and their respective rendering programs.
I have previously taught classes at Rhode Island School of Design for programs like this and have frequently tutored around the city.
I make a point to teach in a way that is immediately beneficial to the project you are currently working on, while also building a skill set so you can understand the intricacies of the program and the tricks to build speed and efficiency while working.
I would love to help you learn a new program and see what types of projects you are working on.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have extensive experience in InDesign through the completion of client booklets as a landscape architect and thesis projects from my time as a design student. This includes teaching design students in how to layout presentations and their own thesis books. My method of teaching is to pinpoint the type of work each student needs to accomplish and use the proper program mechanics to achieve them. Essentially, it is a learning through experience rather than just learning the buttons in the program. This includes proper file management and work flow.
As a landscape architect I use autoCAD everyday at work. Not only does this include the basic and advanced drawing functions, but additionally the file management of a large project by use of xrefs and block references. The printing and layout function of autoCAD is also very important to know how to set up, and I have come to be an expert in sheet set management. My goal for learning is to use a project they may be working on and build a skill set using proper work flow and file management.
I have a thorough understanding of Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. These tools are the primary programs that graphic artists need to learn for digital art, touching up, layouts, book design, vector art, etc. I use these programs everyday as a designer and visual artist in a landscape architecture firm. I have also taught these programs for the last three years.
