I was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela and moved to Texas at the age of 9. My first language is Spanish but I was bilingual by the age of 10. My degree is in Hispanic Studies with a Texas teaching certificate in Spanish 6-12.
My coursework includes Spanish grammar, linguistics, culture, and literature. I also did a year's worth of graduate work at the University of Houston and took classes on second language acquisition. I'm currently teaching Spanish III - V at the Miller School of Albemarle.

My second skill is dance- more specifically- belly dance (11 years including performing), salsa, merengue, bachata, cumbia, reggaeton, samba (Brazilian), dandia (Indian), soran bushi (Japanese), West African, and more.
I also can play all Middle Eastern rhythms on a hand drum or djembe.

If you need a Spanish tutor or dance teacher please don't hesitate to contact me. I can do choreography for dances, help with translations, or help you do your Spanish homework. I also can help you learn more conversational Spanish and educate you on the incredibly diverse Hispanic culture in and out of the U.S.

I can help you whether you are a student in middle school all the way to college, a businessman/woman wanting to learn Spanish for your job, or converse for potential international travel. Also you can shape up through a fun and vigorous dance session or even learn some choreography for a Quinceanera or a performance.

Spanish is my first language as I was born in Venezuela and lived there until I was 9. I graduated with a degree in Hispanic Studies at the University of Houston - GPA 3.84. I have taught levels I-V in high xchool both AP and PreAP/IB. I currently work at the a school teaching Spanish. I attended a conference by Bill VanPatten, a well known linguist and creator of several Spanish language textbooks. I also presented twice at the Texas Foreign Language Association about teaching language through project based learning and authentic resources. My philosophy on second language teaching is that students acquire a language don't simply learn "about" the language. While grammar is important, I make sure my students know when and how to use different grammatical structures and get plenty of exposure to the language as well as refine their speaking and writing skills in contextualized situations. In addition to training in second language teaching, I have taken classes on the Hispanic language, culture, linguistics, and literature.

Great tutor!

I feel Victoria did a great job helping my son with Spanish 3. He needed someone to go over a few topics to help him prepare for his exam. I would recommend Victoria! She always got back to me and was flexible with my son's busy schedule.
