A little bit more about me: I finished in the top 3% of my class in high school and scored equally well on the Verbal and Mathematics sections of the SAT. I attended the University of Virginia where I received a B.A. in Cognitive Science (Psychology). A few years later, I attended Colorado State University where I completed a Master's degree in Accounting.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have BA from UVA, and studied mathematics up through Calculus II.

Financial Accounting

I have a Master's Degree in Accounting -- Colorado State University 2008.

Managerial Accounting

I have a Master's Degree in Accounting -- Colorado State University 2008.

Microsoft Excel

I have extensive experience using Microsoft Excel. While earning my Masters in Accounting, I used Excel everyday. Also, while working as a Staff Accountant, I used excel everyday. I used excel in my own business to maintain customer records, profit and loss statements, and many other schedules and reports. Yesterday I tutored my first lesson covering Excel basics. It went well, and the student has requested a future lesson.

Prealgebra

I did well in math during K-12.

Reading

I've been tutoring students for 2+ years. I am very strong in English subjects (reading, writing and grammar.) I greatly enjoy the challenge and reward of helping students succeed.

SAT Math

I've studied mathematics up through Calculus II. I'm skilled at breaking complex problems down into more easily understandable parts and helping the student grasp the concept thereby helping his/her confidence grow.

Rob does a good job of always being prepared with multiple questions and examples to go through and always wants to know what I need to practice. Helpful at visualizing the main ideas of accounting.
