Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Football

I am a former football player at the collegiate level and life-long fan. I have coached football at the club level for several years, winning the Texas State Championship.

Political Science

I am qualified to be a Political Science tutor because all of my formal education at the Bachelor, Masters, and Doctoral level is in Political Science. Further, I have been an active student and observer of the political process and the intricate interaction it has with government for many years. Beyond the textbooks and writings, I have served in numerous positions both in the professional and volunteer world, where I have applied the theories to the policy-making and legislative process. I have taught, and continue to teach, Political Science at the university level where I am continually interacting with students at all levels of study.

Project Management

I have managed projects in both the professional and volunteer world. In the professional world, one of the projects that I managed was an Internet subscription rollout that involved a nation-wide footprint, 65 software engineers, 1.5-million subscribers, and $20-million in revenue. In the volunteer sector, I chaired a statewide event involving more than 6,000 students for the prevention of drug abuse. I have successfully used different project management softwares and other project management tools.

Study Skills

I developed strategies to learn difficult material throughout more than twenty years of formal education. This skill development began in the first twelve years of school, later honed in undergraduate and graduate school. I earned the distinction of Summa cum laude in undergraduate study and furthered my education with a Master's and a Doctoral degrees. This would not have been achieved without good, strong study skills.
