Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Elementary Math

I have taught elementary students math about three years. I started with a 3rd grade math student, who was struggling with math in general. After 6 months of tutoring, his math skill was improved. Now, he is taking GT math class in 4th grade. For the class, I believe that perfect calculation is the most important thing in elementary math. To understand the calculation and not to make calculation mistakes will bring big difference to the student's grade. Moreover, I will cover all the chapters for general lessons and further advanced level.

ESL/ESOL

I have taught ESL about three years. I started with an international high school student (11th grade), who could understand elementary school level vocabulary and grammar. He was not familiar with English at all. After 6 months of tutoring, his vocabulary was improved to understand vocabulary at his grade level. I teach ESL by letting the students in the world of English. To learn English should be interesting and essential to their lives since the language is very important nowadays. Along with learning vocabulary and grammar, I will definitely cover listening and speaking. Learning and understanding English and it's culture with me will be fun and educational.

Korean

I have lived in Korea over 16 years (1992 to 2008), so my native language is Korean. Moreover, from the Korean alphabet to Korean literature, I'm ready to teach who wants to learn from the beginning and who is in advanced level. I'm all available in Korean listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Also, I have worked as a Korean teacher to K to 6 grade students in Korean Central Presbyterian Church about two years.

Vocabulary

I have taught students vocabulary about three years. I started with an international high school student, who could understand elementary school level vocabulary. After 6 months of tutoring, his vocabulary was improved to understand SAT vocabulary. I teach vocabulary by using grouping the words and word roots. Grouping the words is one of the efficient way to memorize synonyms, and learning word roots and origins expands student's knowledge about English and history.

World History

I took honor Word History and AP World History when I was in high school, and I received A+ in both classes. I'm an history subject enthusiast and did peer-tutoring at my high school and college. My history tactic is to learn to the point and chronologically, so that the students can understand world history up to time. I believe history should be interesting than boring, so when I teach someone, I use interesting facts in history.
