I enjoy tutoring all ages - from kids to students to professionals!
On most weekdays and weekends, I tutor in the DC Metro area (DC, Virginia, Maryland), including students at George Mason, NVCC, George Washington, and Georgetown.
On select weekdays and weekends, I tutor in and around Charlottesville, including UVA and PVCC.
Whether you are looking for help with daily homework, writing/editing an essay, reviewing for a test, or preparing for a proficiency exam - I can help. I have helped students at all levels and am grateful for their reviews and recommendations!
I teach all four language skills (listening, reading, writing, and speaking).
For several years, I have taught elementary, intermediate, and advanced Modern Standard Arabic (MSA) as a university instructor using the communicative method. I also have proficiency in Levantine and Egyptian dialects.
My approach is to keep things simple by focusing on making language familiar (instead of foreign) through the use of resources, examples, and exercises that are communicative and personally meaningful to my students.
Personally, I am patient and easy going - I am a born educator! I take my lead from students to determine what they need and how I can best help them. I offer tutoring that is tailored to specific short- or long-term needs and goals, including plans to study abroad, help with conversational skills, academic coursework, and projects.
A little bit about me - I have degrees in English and Arabic. My graduate work was in Middle East Studies and Comparative Literature and Society at Columbia University. I enjoy sports, the outdoors, good food, meeting people, traveling, reading and writing.
