About Mary

I am a college student who worked as an instructional assistant for a year. I have received first honors and a 3.8 GPA at my college as well as a merit scholarship for my SAT scores. I have extensive experience with early childhood education. I also have experience teaching multiple middle school subjects and I have a strong liberal arts background.

I am not only interested in teaching children what they need to know to score better on tests, but in doing it in a way which will make it fun and memorable. I am available during the summer months until mid- August. I will only tutor at public places such as libraries. A central location can be chosen for your convenience. This is the perfect opportunity to keep their minds active and their academic skills intact during the summer!

I attend a liberal arts college with a very intense literature curriculum based on the classics. I have scored a consistent A in all my literature classes.

I have studied handwriting, both cursive and print from a very young age. I also have taught cursive to children between the ages of 3 and 6.

I am very excited to be able to share what I have learned with students who are eager to learn new things or who wish to ensure that what they have learned doesn't slip away in the summer time.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Writing

I achieved a significantly high score on my SAT in the writing section. I have experience writing research papers, as well as book reports and plot summaries. I also have written science and history report papers.
