Hello everyone! My name is Kate, and I am graduate at GMU with a B.S. in Biology. I'm currently working on my M.S. in Microbiology and Infectious Diseases at GMU with a special interest in bacteriology and will be graduating May 2023. I do bacterial research there as part of my thesis.

I'm currently a graduate teaching assistant and teach microbiology laboratory courses for undergraduate students. While I was an undergrad, I served as a learning assistant (LA) for a year in Cell Structure and Function as well as an introductory microbiology course at the undergraduate level. My responsibilities were meeting with students for peer tutoring, responding via email, running review sessions before exams independent of the course's instructor.

I have lots of experience in biology and I love it. I care A TON about a student's success, and with me, you'll learn to love biology as well!

Note: I prepare and review your material outside of sessions free of charge! I just need study materials sent to me beforehand via Wyzant messages. I want to be familiar with what your instructor is covering so you can get the most out of your time with me.

Biology

I served as a learning assistant at GMU for two semesters, both in collegiate-level biology courses. This means that I did peer-tutoring, ran review sessions for test prep, and held office hours. I've learned plenty of hands-on lab skills by volunteering in a microbiology graduate lab when I was in undergrad. I have recently completed an internship in which I worked with bacteria (E. coli) and the research is pending publication.
