Teaching is communication, and when you teach you have to communicate your way to do something: if your student learns "how to do" you win, if he doesn't you fail. The most important thing is the result: at the end of the course the student will be able to do what he studied for.
I am Roberto, 55, I like teaching, and I combined the activity of teaching/training with my main job (software developer and general manager of the software company I set up and owned). I did it in Italy, where I...

Teaching is communication, and when you teach you have to communicate your way to do something: if your student learns "how to do" you win, if he doesn't you fail. The most important thing is the result: at the end of the course the student will be able to do what he studied for.
I am Roberto, 55, I like teaching, and I combined the activity of teaching/training with my main job (software developer and general manager of the software company I set up and owned). I did it in Italy, where I lived before staying in Virginia... I taught software (COBOL, BASIC), general computer knowledge, Excel, Word, accountancy (with Italian laws, also using specific applications). I taught in school as a technician, in professional courses, to my customers (software applications and general computer knowledge) and in classes I organized.
Communication is getting more and more important everywhere, so I combined my business expertise with public speaking and communication, and I also taught promotion and communication, public speaking, use of PowerPoint, use of press releases, surveys, ads, social media. I did it while I held parliamentary offices in Italy, and so I was really "doing&" what I taught. Of course now I can't teach speaking (public or not) the best "English": posso insegnare come parlare Italiano (in pubblico o meno), perché sono Italiano madrelingua (I can teach Italian because I am Italian native speaker). But I can teach "how" to hold a speech, no matter what language you use, how to communicate, how to support your communication with a press release or with social networks. Maybe I have not the best "word" (in English) but surely, after the lessons, you will have the best way "to say" it.

But I will teach you "how" to hold a speech, what is the "Body Language", how to use times and pauses and even more. I learned (technically) at first what is "public speaking" playing at the theatre (also as an art director) when I was 20 years old, and later I have taught for many years. I will teach you how to get people's attention, why people listen (or not) to you while you are speaking: of course what you say is important, but NOT ONLY that. And I can also teach how you can support speeches with media, surveys, press releases, social networks. We can plan a “communication” course, with the public speaking at the center of the program. I planned and taught many times (in Italy) in this kind of courses … you will achieve your goal! If you are three people or more, we can also use slides (PowerPoint) during the lessons, and we can plan a “speak zone” to practice… Learning “public speaking” will be a pleasure!!

I'm a software developer. I got my high school degree in Italy in 1983 as IT programmer/accountant. I worked in several companies in Italy, approximately from 1984 until 2005 (1987-2005 also in a company I set up in Udine, Italy) as software developer and analyst using COBOL (RM/Cobol), BASIC, RPGII in Unix, DOS, and Windows OS. I designed, developed, and supported business software applications. I taught COBOL mainly in professional courses. If you want to learn COBOL, you should have a computer with licensed COBOL compiler and runtime (if needed) to let you try the software you develop.

Using VBA I also developed an accountancy software for small business, and I always use VBA when I need a simple and fast language. Of course I also use VBA programming Excel or MS Office macros in general. Using VBA I can teach you basic programming, but it is great also to explain how to develop an easy procedure to print a daily report or to manage an small Database. VBA is also great, using events (like buttons) in a simple GUI (Graphics User Interface). Using VBA together with office I can teach you the basis of coding, the basis of databases, the basis of GUI. I am able to plan a class either for a user that wants to just use VBA with MS Office, or for a user that wants to start with VBA to go on with java or other languages. If you just have a specific program or a specific problem to be solved with VBA, we can do it together. Maybe we can use a background spreadsheet, developing a GUI for input, coding some events in VBA, and print some reports or simply send some email as output. We can work together for the first time, and then you will be able to do it by yourself the next time.
