Bio

Hi, I'm Jennifer! I have been teaching for the past 8 years and tutoring for over 15. I work with students in all levels of high school chemistry (general, honors, and AP), as well as college students taking their first year of Gen Chem. I know chemistry can be a difficult subject, but I will help you break it down so it feels easy to learn. Who knows...maybe you'll even end up enjoying it! But don't take my word for it. Here are some actual quotes from students I have taught/tutored over the years:

- "I always felt that I had your full support and guidance in learning and succeeding in chemistry."
- "I expected the class to be very hard coming into it, but you helped make it easy to understand."
- "You were able to make a lot feel like a little. I have no idea how I was able to retain this much info. Thanks!"

I am a strong believer that the path to success is filled with practice, practice, practice. This means the best way to improve is to solve problems (as many as you can get your hands on!). We'll spend our sessions reviewing content and working through questions together. I encourage you to bring practice problems from your class for us to start with and then I can provide even more when you're ready.

My favorite part about tutoring is helping a student get to that "aha" moment where the puzzle pieces start to fit together. Chemistry is one of those subjects where new content builds on everything you've learned in the past, so in the second half of the year you really start to see those connections develop! Because chemistry builds on itself so much, it is extremely important to have a strong foundation of the early concepts to ensure later success. As soon as you start to struggle, please don't hesitate to reach out. All of my previous students have shown significant improvement (and they've all passed their end-of-course exams with flying colors!). I'm excited to help you join that group.

As they say, "chem is try," and as long as you're willing to try, I will be there to support you!
