Hello, my name is Jasmin--I'm an educator with a non-profit company focused on offering arts-integrated teaching strategies to public schools. I teach language and discrete visual art (painting, drawing, sculpting, etc.). Prior to teaching with the non-profit, I worked in the education department of the Los Angeles Contemporary Art Gallery. There, I taught the appreciation and creation of Contemporary Art to visitors.
My teaching style is dynamic and caters to different types of learners (auditory, visual, sensory, etc.). I understand well the shortcomings of mundane education and have spent the past few years of my life dedicated to showing that learning is an enriching and FUN experience.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree from Vassar College in art history and an Associate of Science degree in graphic design. I have two teaching certificates from yoga schools--one in India and one in Venice.
I've been teaching art for three years and yoga for one year. Sharing the fruits of my education is a great joy! In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I am always looking for an excuse to make an Excel spreadsheet. I've used it for many years, but became very familiar with it during a Quality Control class in college. During this class, all homework, quizzes, and exams were completed and submitted using MS Excel. I use the program to record, monitor, analyze and update dynamic numerical data.
I am comfortable teaching Excel to students who have never used it or teaching more advanced capabilities to students who want to get more out of it.
