Hi there! I am Danny. And a I am passionate about teaching! I have spent the past twenty years teaching Math and Physics courses at a public high school in Virginia. As these courses are the bedrock of so many fields of expertise and further study at the collegiate level, I know that it is essential for students to be well-grounded in these subjects. Therefore, I have dedicated my career to developing methods that are effective at training students how to "think" like a mathematician or physicist. It is such a joy for me to watch academic frustration melt away!

After minoring in Mathematics in college, I spent the next twenty years teaching high school Algebra and Geometry courses. Over the years, I have taught over 1,000 students. I have witnessed many kids transform from "math-fearers" to "math-fans"! Year after year, my students have been highly successful on the End-Of-Course tests administered by the state. It is a thrill for me to teach students how to think mathematically so that math actually makes sense and is not simply a method of "getting the right answers."

As for physics, I fell in the love with "the granddaddy of all science" when I was a high school student. I attended James Madison University on a physics scholarship and graduated with a B.S. in Physics four years later, having been awarded the "Outstanding Junior Physics Major" and "Outstanding Senior Physics Major" awards by the Physics Department. Although I had the knowledge base and skillset to continue my study of physics at the graduate level, I realized that my passion and joy was sharing physics with others. This is what drove me into teaching full-time, eventually obtaining my Masters in Physics Education along the way. I am fully aware that physics can be an intimidating and confusing subject. Therefore, I make it my goal to teach students how to think like a physicist, changing "intimidation" into fascination and "confusion" into wonder!

As an intermediate guitarist, I still have much to learn about the guitar m

great teacher, patient

Danny tutored my 13 yr old son over the summer. He was super reliable, a good communicator, and my son actually seemed to enjoy it. My son says he’s pretty confident now about his math skills going into the school year, but asked if Danny could continue tutoring him during the school year if it is difficult. Definitely recommend.

THE BEST!

My son thrived at Honors Physics with Danny's weekly help. Danny made all the difference in the world and related so well to my high schooler! Danny helped him understand small and large concepts and worked with him to gain some confidence in a subject he was not excited about!

He’s super patient!

Danny taught me more about flux and induction and I really liked how he was super patient and didn’t make me feel like I was asking dumb questions which a lot of tutors do. He tried his best to explain everything to me in the given amount of time! Would def. hire him again!!
