Hello everyone! My name is Junaid and I am a medical student at Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (also known as VCOM) in Blacksburg, VA. I received my Bachelor's degree in Biology and went to grad school to earn a certificate in health sciences before starting medical school. The thing that has helped me be successful in school and enjoy learning so much is knowing that there are infinite ways to learn something new. A lot of students at times feel that something is simply too difficult, boring, or confusing for them, especially when it comes to the sciences. But in my experience with myself and other students and friends, the way something is taught can be the deciding factor. I want to teach my students to be confident when approaching any course or subject, to come up with creative ways to make connections both inside and outside the classroom, and most importantly to enjoy the process of learning!
As a 1st year medical student, I have used the exact same philosophy and have tutored my fellow 1st years in medical pathology, pharmacology and clinical medicine. Whether it be advanced courses like these, or high school Biology 1, my method of teaching stays the same because all you really need to improve at anything is a positive attitude! In medical school, a lot of the courses we took in high school and college start to make sense. Knowing why exactly we are learning something. Learning about pipes in Physics 1 did not make much sense until we realized that pipes act exactly like blood vessels, how cool! This realization helped me do well in all of my classes in medical school and I want to use that idea to help students of ALL levels.
Being consistent with my theme, I welcome resources from my students and their parents and we will work together to make sure you get the most out of our tutoring sessions. I am easy to reach and always provide immediate responses. Hope to meet and schedule a session with you soon!
