Bio

I have enjoyed teaching since I started learning. I was a math tutor in high school and as a PhD candidate at the University of Utah I taught classes and volunteered as a tutor at the high school. After completing a post-doctoral degree in engineering, I followed my passion to teaching high school and middle school for 6 years. What a rewarding experience. I have many powerful references upon request.

Learning goals are different for each student. I am adaptable and I work for you. If you just want a grade, then we can take the path of least resistance. If you are working on a subject you will need for your career, future academics, or if you are just driven by curiosity, we can focus on depth of knowledge, working skills and long-term retention. I have a long history of adapting to the needs of students and parents.

To families that are looking to structure home education, I love helping to build curriculum that focuses on critical thinking and analytical reasoning. Every student is unique. We must be comfortable starting from where we are because confidence is so important. Individualizing curriculum that meets the needs of students allows them to build this confidence while being ambitious and enjoying the process.
My favorite subjects to teach are math, science and writing.
I love that science has so many opportunities to be creative, insightful, and playful. All the pieces do fit together, and it is our responsibility to work towards a better understanding. Throughout my life my work ethic and depth of knowledge on a large variety of scientific topics has inspired others. This is the most rewarding part for me.

Math was my first love. I know I can help students navigate deep waters while limiting frustration. I have been doing this for a long time.

My writing game has holes. I am not a great final editor, yet I am very strong in creating a bigger picture with a flow that allows the reader to follow arguments.

Knowledgeable and Hard working

I worked with Jason on several high level topics for my College Analytical Chemistry course. Jason is very good at cutting through the nitty gritty to get a definitive straight forward answer. I was able to send my work to him in advance and he would have everything worked out prior to the session. I have worked with a dozen college tutors and have had the best experience with Jason.

great teacher

Jason took the time to go through problems with me so I understood how to get the formulas I needed to use

Great Tutor!

Jason did a great job helping me understand my Calculus 2 homework, and was super patient with some tech issues on my end. He explains things really well and has a super chill personality. I will definitely contact him again when I need help!

Very knowledgeable and a great teacher

I needed an ACT math tutor for my daughter. I was really excited to find someone like Jason, he is amazing. He is very knowledgeable and loves to teach. My daughter is an honor student but does not like math. After the first time my daughter asked me to make the one hour session and push it to two hours. She told me he was fun to work with and easy to learn from. I was very impressed. He used learning techniques used by top universities. I highly recommend him.
