Bio

Hi guys! I am a recently graduated master's student in Animal Science. I love being outdoors, playing soccer, Brazilian jiu jitsu, horseback riding, and cooking. I have experience tutoring students in elementary, middle, high school, and college and I absolutely love tutoring because I love to spread the knowledge that I have to others and it's extremely rewarding to watch the people you've helped succeed.

My favorite saying is "where there's a will, there's a way." That's because I believe that with a strong desire to succeed, anything is possible. If you want to improve, you will. I will do my very best to help you achieve what you want to achieve and I will be more than happy to do it.
My tutoring method varies some depending on the subject, but the overreaching concept remains the same. I believe that the best way to learn is to do. Practicing the concepts and working toward understanding them is of the utmost importance.
I have experience tutoring high school students in Algebra I and Geometry with great success. I was a strong math student in high school and in my freshman year of college, I received a departmental physics award for my performance in calculus-based physics (no, I am not a physics major). I love teaching math because I love helping people to make sense of something abstract.
I have taken general and organic chemistry and received an A in both. I also took a bioorganic chemistry class in graduate school and LOVED it. I view chemistry as being very math and physics based.
My statistical skills are a fairly new development. I received a graduate certificate in applied statistics while completing my master's degree in Animal Sciences and have been working as an assistant statistical consultant at my university since I graduated in May 2021. I can help with introductory class problems or with problems you're running into doing statistics on your research project (as long as it falls within my scope of experience).
I’m excited to work with you!
Sincerely,
Alicia

Spanish,

Spanish

I have studied Spanish for 6 years total. Four of those years were in high school and two more in college. I have experience acting as an informal medical translator and as the only provider of a Spanish education to a middle school student who was home schooled. My method is to teach from the ground up. I like to provide the student initially with some key phrases so that they can communicate at a very basic level and then build on the vocabulary and grammar beginning with the present tense and progressing through more complex tenses and grammar points.

Study Skills

Study Skills

I am a sophomore in college and I currently have a 4.0 and I ended high school with a 4.6 out of 4.3 (we have added weight for more difficult classes at my school). I have been successful in studying myself and helping others in my classes to improve their study skills. While I have no formal experience teaching study skills as a whole, I have worked with several classmates to help them find ways of studying and organizing themselves to best meet their goals.

Algebra 1,

Algebra 1

I have taken math through Calculus I and received A's in all of my math classes. I have experience tutoring a 10th grader in this subject with very good success (she went from and F to a C and passed her standardized test.)
Chemistry,

Chemistry

I have taken general chemistry in high school and college and received an A in both classes. My experience tutoring students currently only includes friends who I have helped with homework and lab reports. However, I feel very confident in my abilities to help others understand chemistry.

Great tutor

My daughter was very happy and very appreciative of her. She said Alicia would explain and walk through each problem she needed help with. Thank you--you're a life saver.

Very fun and helpful!!

I had my first lesson with her and I love the way she explained things to me. She has a very good way of explaining confusing concepts and she helped me understand a whole chemistry topic in an hour! She’s the bomb.com. :)

Great First Lesson

I had my first lesson and it went very well. We discussed my goals and where I felt I would need the most work. We then jumped right into verbs and she left me with some good items to start studying. Alicia is very easy to talk to and made me feel comfortable despite being an adult starting from the beginning. I'm looking forward to continuing my lessons with her.
