I am a professional designer. I have been teaching part time since 2004. I enjoy teaching young people and giving understanding in areas of difficulty. I am also interested in providing youngsters with the resources necessary to explore a career in the arts, and or commercial design. I understand the value of being known for exceptional design, attention to detail, and outstanding customer service. I have also worked for various firms and agencies on projects which range in scope of business from national security to healthcare. I have developed creative and memorable brands for a variety of companies with over 10 years of branding experience. I have twenty plus years of experience in comprehensive design, computer graphics, and commercial illustration collaborating with art directors, project managers, administrators, physicians and attorneys to create marketable design used in editorial, educational and consumer entities.
Interpreting the ideas and technical notes of IT specialists and management, my recent work has helped to win major efforts for various federal government contract proposals, some of which include efforts to the Department of Defense, federal civilian agencies, and the intelligence community. These graphics include technical charts, graphs, tables and illustrations, photo manipulation and retouching as well as cover design for the proposals, posters, advertisements, annual reports, tear sheets, invitations, brochures, banners, certificates, correspondence, business presentations, web design, large exhibit and tabletop displays. I have worked as a medical illustrator, where I created medical, general, anatomical and surgical illustrations. I have also freelanced for clients who required architectural, textbook, journal, educational, instructional, editorial and promotional illustrations, as well as technical drawing and writing. I have produced medical illustrations, charts and graphs for legal courtroom display.
My creative skills include the creation of original fine art, 3D and exhibit design, photography, multimedia and television production, directing, scripting, editing, storyboards, scenic-costume design, motion graphics. I have developed lessons and curriculum for various private schools to communicate the necessary foundational skills to help with college entry or entrepreneurial pursuit of an art related career.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I received my training from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, earning a Master of Arts degree, Art as Applied to Medicine, Baltimore, MD, and Pratt Institute, Department of Fine Arts, Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree, Brooklyn, NY. I have worked as a teacher and recreation advisor for Chugach Alaska Corp. via Job Corps Programs of America, Wash., DC, as well as part-time employment in art instruction, graphic design, and recreational activities, in Art Education throughout DC and MD.
I had four years of figure drawing and classical training as well as more specific and detailed training in drawing and painting techniques during my graduate studies. I have also pursued further exposure to the arts and art history over the past 30 years, and have led several field trips to local museums to educate my students and complement my classroom activities.
I have work experience as a Senior Graphic Designer for an information systems company doing proposal work, Illustration and graphic design. My duties and responsibilities included interpreting the ideas and technical notes of our IT specialists and management teams to create original graphics, and edit existing graphics for our various Federal Government contract proposals, some of which included efforts to the Department of Defense, the Federal Civilian Agency and the Intelligence Community. My experience as a Consultant includes Illustration, graphic design, historical book layout, as well as experience providing services requiring the design of brochure covers, Government proposal covers, PowerPoint templates and tables for government and private agencies, firms and small companies.
