About Dustin

I grew up on a farm in mid-Michigan and obtained a degree in Agribusiness Management with a specialization in Political Economy from Michigan State University in 2012. I graduated at the top of my class and was one of 37 students at the 50,000 person university with a perfect 4.0 GPA. I went on to earn my Master's degree in Applied Economics and Management from Cornell University in 2014 after scoring a perfect 800 on the math section of the GRE. While at Cornell, I taught microeconomic theory, agricultural finance courses, and led a lab on Microsoft Excel. I primarily taught and tutored college freshman and sophomores. My average rating from students at Cornell over two years of instruction was 4.85/5.0. My students would often say I would make foreign concepts much more relatable and I am a patient teacher.

I understand economics can be difficult for some and it does not come easily to all. I also believe that there are often barriers between teachers and their students, as most instructors struggle to put difficult concepts into layman's terms. I enjoy helping others learn and succeed.

I taught a class at Cornell University on Microsoft Excel, where we covered basics from creating new sheets to writing VBA code. I work extensively in both Microsoft Powerpoint and Microsoft Word in my profession, putting together presentations and publications.

I have two degrees in economics and have been working as an economist for the past year and a half in Washington, DC.

I would really like to help students understand a subject for which I have a great passion. Please contact me to learn more about my qualifications, see where my strengths could help you succeed, and to schedule lessons.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Economics

I have a B.S. in Agribusiness Management (applied economics) and a specialization in Political Economy. I also have a M.S. in Applied Economics and Management. While in grad school, I taught and tutored students in microeconomic theory and an introductory finance class. I am employed as an economist and it is my true passion-I hope to help others discover the subject and increase their comprehension and confidence.

GRE

I scored a perfect score on the math section of the GRE, and have taken both the old and new versions.

Microsoft Excel

I taught an introductory Microsoft Excel course at Cornell University for two years, which covered topics from spreadsheet design to writing VBA codes. Currently employed in a position where I am tasked with creating visuals of complex data for a wide array of audiences, which I routinely create in Excel.
