Longwood University (Spanish)
I am a Spanish teacher who has taught or tutored Spanish 1-4 and loved every second! I know that learning a second language comes easy to some and is more of a struggle for others. But I believe if you can find the way you study and learn best then you find your key to academic success. What I enjoy most about tutoring is the one one one aspect and the ability to tailor lessons to individuals and individual learning styles.
My goal is to help students identify how they learn best and then use that knowledge to improve all aspects of language learning. I don't think that one size fits all when it comes to education. Additionally, since language has so many different aspects, each lesson should hit them all. We'll practice reading, writing, speaking and listening in order to improve all parts of your language ability.
My main goal is to keep my students engaged, challenged and wanting to learn. I'll provide constant feedback and comprehension checks for my students so they always know how they're doing and where they stand. Additionally, I'll provide resources for students so they may continue our lesson and get extra practice while I'm not there.
I've been teaching foreign language for a number of years so I know that learning English as a Second language has its challenges. Practicing it in a native setting, looking at relevant materials pertinent to your life help you succeed rather than studying vocabulary lists that don't have anything to do with you.
Spanish has been my passion and focus for many years. I love the history, art, literature, culture, and language. I've traveled to many spanish speaking countries in order to immerse myself in the culture and language. I have lived in Costa Rica and Argentina and studied in both countries. I am currently a Spanish teacher and love my job! I love helping students feel successful and strong in their language ability!
April - June I can be available Wednesdays from 4pm-7pm
Starting July 18th, 2016 I'll be available from 9am-8pm until September.
My rate is $40 an hour for all lessons.
I'm excited to hear from you and get started on your road to success! If you have any questions about me or becoming a tutoring student please feel free to contact me! I have a sophomore in high school for whom languages are a challenge. He's a math and science kind of kid. Hannah gets that and knows how to reach him on his terms and guide him along. She gives him concrete strategies to handle difficult concepts and makes sure he gets it. She also has been so patient working with him and guiding him through projects which are of particular challenge to his ADHD and executive functioning issues. We are so happy we found Hannah!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
