About Dale

I have a very diverse background - former US diplomat who served around the world, ran my own stock market business and now in education as an adjunct faculty member in international relations and international business for an online university in Arlington. I really want to share my knowledge and experience with students who are interested in learning more about the world.

My academic background included extensive courses in history and political science. I also love languages; I am State Department-certified in French and Croatian.

History was an integral part of my international relations training at the undergraduate and graduate levels. My strengths are European history and modern American history, particularly diplomatic history. I also have a strong background in political science and comparative politics.

I am certified in the Reading/Writing/Essay sections of the new SAT. I have also worked successfully with ACT and TOEFL students.

I look forward to helping students who want to learn more about the world around them.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

History was an integral part of my international relations training at the undergraduate and graduate levels. My strengths are European history and modern American history, particularly diplomatic history. I also have a strong background in political science and comparative politics.

I look forward to helping students who want to learn more about the world around them.

European History

History was an integral part of my international relations training at the undergraduate and graduate levels. My strengths are European history and modern American history, particularly diplomatic history. I also have a strong background in political science and comparative politics. I tutored several students in AP European History in 2015-2016 so I am current on the course and the new exam structure. I look forward to helping students who want to learn more about the world around them.

Government & Politics

I have undergraduate and graduate degrees in International Relations along with 13 years of US government experience.

Political Science

I have BA and MA degrees in international relations from top universities. These included many political science courses. Topics covered included foundations of political analysis, comparative politics, international development and security policy, plus regional studies in Europe, Africa and Latin America. I can guide students from political philosophy to modern political analysis to international issues of all kinds.

Social Studies

I have a broad background in social studies issues from high school through graduate school - history, geography, government, political science, sociology and international relations all feature prominently on my transcripts. I currently tutor high school and middle school students in social studies topics. And I am currently an adjunct faculty member in international relations.

Writing

I have a versatile background in academic and professional writing. My undergraduate and graduate degrees required numerous term papers plus two full-length thesis papers. In government I drafted a full range of memos, press releases, proposals and reports. I am also certified in SAT/ACT Reading/Writing/Essay sections.

Whatever format you need to write in, I can help you get it right.
