About Tatyana

Hello Prospective Students,

Thank you for checking my profile! I would be glad to offer you my tutoring skills. I have extensive experience teaching general biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology courses in the classroom of undergraduate students. I know the material so well that I actually enjoy explaining it to each student, individually, in-person or on-line.
I also love to assist students with writing of their research papers, especially for various psychology courses. It makes me feel special when I see that my students get excellent grades instead of mediocre ones; when they thank me, and gain confidence in their ability to master biological and social sciences. When they get into Nursing Programs of their choice!

I also tutor high school students enrolled in IB and AP biology courses and thoroughly enjoy it!

Finally, several of my students earned really high scores on their TOEFL exam, especially those whose native language is Russian or Slavic-based.

My rate can be flexible and really depends on your needs, proximity to Arlington, and number of students per group.

I wish you all the best in your pursuit of knowledge and please contact me if you need an excellent and experienced tutor.

Warmly,

Tatyana K.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I have helped my daughter and some of her friends with algebra; I also tutor biology and chemistry courses and, sometimes algebraic concepts are very useful especially describing metric conversions, rate of the reactions and probability outcomes. I enjoy tutoring students one on one; it makes me feel really special and accomplished when I see that student gains confidence and knowledge and is no longer afraid of the math, but actually enjoys tackling the problems and solving it.

Anatomy

I have been teaching and tutoring Anatomy and Physiology courses for several years at the universities and community colleges in the Washington, DC area. Most of my students plan to enroll in nursing programs and this is one of the most challenging courses they have to take. I stress the importance of conceptual understanding of the material and also help students to learn and memorize numerous facts about body anatomy and physiology.

Biology

I have been teaching General Biology, Microbiology, Anatomy and Physiology courses at various universities in Washington DC area for several years. I have an M.S. in Molecular Biotechnology from George Washington University and B.S. in Microbiology. My goal is to improve your confidence and help you to understand material so that you will ace your test!

Drawing

I enjoy drawing, myself; I have worked for the art enrichment program "Abrakadoodle" for many years and also taught drawing privately. I like to use classical music when my students paint and enjoy creating lessons based on works of famous painters such as Cezanne, Van Gogh and Kandinsky. I also love to use lessons from the Animated Disney Studio artists with students who are elementary school age.

Microbiology

I got my Masters from George Washington University in 2009 and have been teaching microbiology courses at DC universities ever since. I am passionate about the subject and love to teach. I also worked in several labs in DC area and am familiar with modern biotechnology techniques.

Physiology

I have been teaching Anatomy and Physiology courses for pre-nursing students for several years at NOVA community college and Trinity Washington University. I can help with writing lab reports, understanding complex physiological processes, and improving your grades on exams.

Praxis

I have been tutoring students in SAT and ACT, AP BIO, AP Chemistry and 7th grade Math honors as well as TEAS. I also have 2 Masters degrees, one in Second Language Acquisition and another one in Molecular Biotechnology.

Reading

I love to read myself and have worked with several students already who had trouble reading.

Russian

I am a native Russian speaker, I also have MA in Russian Language and Linguistics from the University of Maryland, College park.

TEAS

I have been teaching pre-nursing students at the university level for 5 years. I took all the pre-nursing requirement courses before started teaching. I have been teaching microbiology, anatomy and physiology and general biology for one of DC's Private Universities for over 8 years.

TOEFL

I took TOEFL myself and have been teaching students for 5 years. I am a professional educator and teach various subjects from TOEFL, reading, high school and college level biology, anatomy and physiology and microbiology.

Amazing tutor!

Tatyana is the best tutor I have ever had! She responds quickly and knows her materials! She is very patient, kind, and easy to get along with. I worked with her for about 2.5/3 weeks and passed my TEAS test because of her. She built my confidence up and taught me testing techniques. My anxiety levels went from a 10 to a 3. I've learned a lot from her that I'll carry with me throughout my student
