Who better than to teach you how to sew than a brilliant DIY'er, self-taught seamstress with professional experience? Add to that fashion design coursework, and you have someone with a genuine passion for sewing. I have over 20 years sewing experience working with fashion and interior design, accessories and stuffed animals. My mother was a professional seamstress, whom I watched create everything from draperies to designer wedding dresses. My sewing career began, not sewing with my mother, but as a drapery workroom seamstress. I learned how to fabricate draperies, Roman and balloon shades, duvet covers, pillows, cornices and valances. I expanded my skill set and began sewing clothes while taking classes in fashion design and pattern making. I started sub contracting my sewing skills and began making samples for local designers. Dresses, jackets, suits, pants, handbags, costumes and some menswear. My contracting has led to an interesting variety of sewn goods. My favorite project was to create and fabricate a hand puppet based on a local cable TV show. 'Pancake Mountain' introduced various musical acts to kids and adults alike, with a delightful host, a sheep named Rufus Leaking. I had the pleasure of creating a portable version of Rufus. My appreciation of uncommon, non-mass produced merchandise is homemade in evaluating the quality of my mom-made clothes versus their store bought counterparts. This is at the core to my approach to sewing for my customers - give them something that will last a while. I try to impart a little of that appreciation to my students; to embrace their creativity and make something that they could buy. Teaching allows me to indulge my need to create vicariously through my students. I thoroughly enjoy sharing my knowledge to encourage my students to learn a sustainable skill. While operating 3 Etsy shops, I will always make time to show someone how to sew. I have taught kids and adults and hope to reach everyone in between! I can teach you how to sew, or provide guidance in getting a special project done. I prefer to come to your location.

I had my first lesson with Terri and I'm so happy and excited to work with her. By the time she left, I was doing a little sewing on my own and practicing some basics (I'm a beginner). I'm confident that I will be sewing and learning new concepts from working with Terri!
Terri helped me understand and read patterns. She's very sweet and likable, she made makes you feel comfortable and therefore it's easy to concertrate on what she's teaching you. I learnt alot and i look forward to calling her to help me when i dont undestand anything. She's the best!
Terri did a great job helping my 11 year old daughter create her 1st skirt. She was very thorough during the process, from reviewing the machine to selecting a pattern and fabric to construction. My daughter enjoyed her lessons and looks forward to future lessons with Terri.
I have extensive fashion and interior design sewing experience. I have worked as a sub contractor with local designers to complete their sewn items. I have direct experience working with womenswear, alterations, window treatments, children's clothing and accessories.
