I have a casual, and natural teaching style. I try to simplify the material. Learning Spanish can be much easier than many believe, and a lot more fun! I have lived in Madrid, Spain almost seven years (as well as Rio de Janeiro, Brazil), and have learned the tricks and challenges of learning a new language. Spanish, has been a pleasure and a passion all my life. Today it's application and need is greater than ever.
I have helped countless people learn both English and Spanish. I enjoy teaching all levels, as well expanding students' knowledge of the Spanish culture. I have a casual, and natural teaching style. Suzanne is an excellent tutor who brings enthusiasm, fun and insight into learning the Spanish language! Suzanne is teaching my son, who is being homeschooled, and she arrives at our home each week on-time and well-prepared with flash cards, work sheets, activities and dialogues. She has a wealth of knowledge about the Spanish language. She knows a variety of dialects and understands how the customs of the Spanish-speaking people are reflected in their language. She includes a good balance of vocabulary, grammar and the spoken language into each lesson. She speaks primarily in Spanish during the lesson, but she will always clarify anything in English, if necessary. My son loves working with this intelligent, knowledgeable, friendly and truly delightful tutor. Her enthusiasm for this beautiful language is infectious. She really understands how to motivate children. I spent a long time searching for a Spanish tutor and feel very lucky to have found such a good one.
Suzanne is enthusiastic and so patient. Since she has begun to tutor our son, his grades in Spanish have significantly improved. She is flexible with timing of lessons, super engaging, and you can tell she sincerely enjoys spending time tutoring students in Spanish. We are so glad to have found her!
Suzanne is fantastic. She is a knowledgeable and astute tutor. She comes prepared and excited to tutor. Her passion for teaching Spanish is unparalleled. She tutors my 15 y/o daughter at the learning pace she needs but also pushes and challenges my daughter with the study material. Suzanne holds my daughter accountable as the student who must put in the effort and do the work. As Suzanne has told my daughter "I can't take the test for you." I highly recommend Suzanne for your next tutor!!!!
Suzanne has been a great help for Max. He is much more confident with his written and spoken Spanish and his grades improved considerably. She is patient, flexible amd fun to work with!
Suzanne helps my son with his high school Spanish & he found her suggestions and feedback very helpful! She was patient and kind. We look forward to our next session!
Suzanne is an excellent tutor. It is evident that she is passionate about teaching Spanish. She is patient and keeps my son engaged in learning the whole time.
My son looks forward to his weekly tutoring sessions!
It was only my first tutoring session but I can see how instrumental Suzanne is going to be to my learning the language in the future. She's extremely knowledgeable and patient, both of which are essential when learning, or relearning in my case, a new language. She allowed me to navigate the lesson based on what I wanted to learn, while strategically suggesting areas in conjunction with those sections. Looking forward to this journey!
My daughter absolutely loves Suzanne. She is very patient and an excellent Spanish teacher! My daughter was very nervous about Spanish and Suzanne has helped her gain the confidence she needed to excel in her class. I would definitely recommend Suzanne to anyone who is looking for a tutor.
My son had 2 very poor quiz grades and then all the sudden a test was assigned 4 days away. So we contacted Suzanne for emergency Spanish help. She came the next day for 3 days straight and his grade was MUCH improved. Suzanne contacted me very hopeful he did well. My son liked working with her and we are going to set up something permanent with her. She's great.
Thank you sooo much for your very complimentary words! I truly do appreciate them and will always try to live up to them! Warm Regards.
Suzanne has been tutoring my wife and I for several months and her ability to teach and explain is very helpful. She is patient, knowledgeable, and has a very good methodology to keep student's attention and thirst to learn more and more. I strongly recommend Suzanne as a tutor and a friend. Thanks for all Suzanne!!
Suzanne adapted very quickly to my level and provided helpful shortcuts and tips for listening to Spanish. Next time I will bring a steno pad and take notes as there was a lot material covered. This is soooo much better than the classroom environment, so much more efficient.
I've recently began studying with Suzanne and have been pleased. She is easy to get along with, personalizes the lessons, and has been very flexible with the schedule. As an adult wanting to improve my Spanish for my job, it is well worth the money to pay for 1 on 1 tutoring rather than taking a class.
Suzanne actually has my 15 year old daughter excited about something besides her phone. My daughter has been struggling with Spanish in school. Suzanne has been able to help her with some basic review and focused lessons on classroom material. Suzanne is very professional, respectful and was able to connect with my daughter. She is punctual and most important very good at what she does. I would recommend her for anyone looking for a great Spanish tutor.
She has the knack of connecting to the student and keeping up with their enthusiasm to learn. She keeps the lesson lively and my son never seemed to be bored of her session. She got the art of teaching.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a BA degree in Spanish from George Mason University. Graduated in 1983. I lived in Madrid, Spain for nearly seven years (as a child as well as an adult)and also in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (Portuguese) for two years. In the past many years, I have worked with many Spanish-speaking persons in various capacities, and am now currently listed with the World Pediatric Program as a Spanish speaking volunteer for the many children who arrive in Richmond, Va. from Spanish speaking countries for medical assistance. Also, I have privately tutored English to Spanish- speaking people hoping to improve their fluency.
