You can become more confident for the ACT! I can help you with understanding question types and how to tackle them. I can help you to better understand grammar rules and punctuation in the English language.

ACT Math

I can help a student with ACT math. I have experience tutoring on this subject matter. I can particularly help students with questions relating to prealgebra and algebra.

ACT Reading

I have experience helping students develop their skills with context clues. I also have experience helping develop skills with inferences. Lastly, I have experience developing skills with discovering the main idea of a passage.

ACT Science

I have experience tutoring on this subject matter. I have experience tutoring on questions relating to experiments. I also have experience with questions concerning data analysis.

ADHD

I have extensive training in ADHD coaching and life coaching from the ADD Coaching Academy. I also have many years working with students with ADHD and am able to help them utilize their strengths to pursue their goals and dreams.

AFOQT

I have experience helping students with this subject matter. I have experience helping students to become more confident in their abilities relating to the AFOQT test. I also have experience working with the math questions, in particular.

Algebra 1

I have experience tutoring in Algebra and consider it to be one of my specialties. I help make Algebra fun and also help students find patterns in types of problems they are solving. I can help with linear equations, point-slope form, slope-intercept form, and factoring.

Algebra 2

I am able to help you with taking your algebra skills to the next level. I am able to help a student with questions that may be on standardized tests. Anthropology

I was an anthropology minor at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. I also have experience doing anthropological research. My coursework included Peoples of Africa and the Anthropology of Globalization.

ASVAB

Military tests are an area of high expertise for me as a tutor. I am familiar with many tests including ASVAB, Officer Aptitude Rating (OAR), AFOQT, and ASTB. I can especially help you with the mathematics (AR &MK), science (GS), electronics (EI), and verbal related sections (WK &PC). I can also help with additional sections of the various tests, as well.

Bible Studies

I have experience teaching religious school for over 8 years. I have taken college level coursework entitled Introduction to Hebrew Bible. I was also was raised in a religious household where I learned quite a bit about Jewish topics. I also have experience tutoring students for their Bar/Bat mitzvah. I also have experience teaching bible stories and about the TaNaK (Hebrew Bible).

Biology

I can help a student with understanding scientific method. I can help with understanding parts of a cell and identifying the differences between a plant cell and animal cell. I am able to help with additional themes including: anatomy, genetics, evolution, and ecology.

Bodybuilding

I am a certified personal trainer through the American Council on Exercise. I have a specialty in sports conditioning. I also have training with coaching athletes with ADHD. I am also a Certified Tennis Performance Specialist. I also am a Youth Fitness Specialist from the IYCA (Level 1).

I have been a co-instructor of a career development class for college students called "College to the Workplace". The class included resumes, interviews, portfolios, and general professionalism.

Ecology

I am a Certified Environmental Educator and have several years experience working with environmental and sustainability related topics. I also majored in Environmental Studies in college. I have experience with Science Fair, research competitions, and Science Olympiad.

Elementary (K-6th)

I have over ten years of experience teaching and tutoring elementary aged students in many grades. I have also worked as a teacher assistant for Kindergarten. I have experience working with all ages of students from PK to 6 through my work as a teacher, substitute teacher, tennis coach, camp staff, and tutor.

Elementary Math

I am available to help students with basic questions they may have about the GMAT concerning math and verbal related sections. I have tutored on GMAT before. I may also help with test-taking strategies.

Hebrew

I have 9 years experience teaching and tutoring Hebrew. I have taught modern Hebrew, prayers, Torah and Haftarah portions, letters, vowels, and reading skills. I am available for Bar and Bat Mitzvah tutoring, general reading, prayers, or if you just want to improve your Hebrew skills. I am open to working with people of different faiths that are interested in learning Hebrew to broaden their horizons. I am available to tutor over Skype too.

Microsoft Excel

Using a hands-on approach, I can help you to better understand Excel. I can help you with setting up a spreadsheet and also field questions about how to navigate Excel.

Microsoft Outlook

I have experience using Outlook in the workplace and have tutored on Outlook. I have covered basic email, how to attach files, the calendar, and appointments.

Microsoft PowerPoint

I can help you with setting up a presentation and also field questions. Using a hands-on approach, I can help you to better understand PowerPoint.

Microsoft Windows

I have experience using Microsoft Windows quite a bit on a nearly daily basis for work and personal purposes. I have experience using multiple versions of Windows including Windows 8.1. I know various tips that can help a student who is writing a paper, as well.

Microsoft Word

I can help you with setting up a document, doing mail merges, and formatting. Using a hands-on approach, I can help you to better understand Word. I can also help you understand various toolbars in MS Office.

Music Theory

I have experience teaching general music theory concepts including notes, time signatures, and types of notes. I am able to teach scales, key signatures, and basic chords. I have played oboe for many years and played in multiple ensembles. I am also familiar with different major composers.

Oboe

I have over 9 years of experience with the oboe. I played oboe in middle school and high school. I have performed with a number of ensembles, including All-County, All-District, and All-State Honor Bands.

Other ensembles with which I have performed include: Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic Association, Symphony Orchestra of Northern Virginia, Falls Church Community Band, Wilmington Symphony Orchestra, Wilmington Symphony Youth Orchestra, UNC Symphony Orchestra, and UNCW Wind Ensemble. I have also performed with local churches and Jewish places of worship.

Piano

I have over 5 years experience playing piano. I also have experience tutoring beginning piano students. I am able to teach musical concepts including rhythm, key signature, location of notes on a keyboard, and types of notes.

Praxis

I have passed the following Praxis II exams: MS Science, MS Math, Health/PE, and Technology Education. I can assist you with math skills especially. I can also help you find out what scores you need to pass for your state.

Prealgebra

SAT Math

You can become more confident for the SAT! I can especially help you with algebra. I am able to help with strategies for the SAT, as well.

Spanish

I am available to tutor on Spanish 1. I have experience subbing in foreign language enrichment for Spanish. I have studied Spanish in high school and college.

Study Skills

I have experience helping students organize materials in their binders and folders. I have experience helping students with prioritize assignments and manage homework. I have worked with students on time management, as well. I have helped students with hesitation for starting homework and larger projects with strategies to help conquer overwhelm and feeling stuck.

Tennis

I have training in coaching youth tennis (10 and under). I also have experience working as an associate tennis pro/fitness specialist and red ball class supervisor. I'm currently an instructor and have experience teaching beginner to beginner-intermediate classes. I have experience with feeding and also conducing drills relating to agility, balance, coordination, and speed. I am a member of USTA, as well. I am certified in fitness related to tennis through ITPA.

Trigonometry

I can help a student to understand basic concepts including sine, cosine, and tangent. I can help a student better understand the unit circle. I am able to help a student with trigonometry questions.

Vocabulary

I am available to help you with your vocabulary. We can study SAT, ACT, GRE related vocabulary. I can also help you brainstorm different words for common words in your writing.

Writing

I have experience helping with writing skills. I have experience proofing, helping with grammar, and also editing. I can help with other aspects of writing including elaboration, writing for specific audiences, and helping with citations.
