In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have helped people with their applications for graduate and professional school, suggesting revisions to essays and ensuring forms are complete. I proofread my friend's application essay for Harvard Divinity School and caught a major error; she was accepted. I also helped a woman from Mongolia with her application essays for dental school and made sure she answered the questions properly.
I have taken undergraduate college classes in Bible, theology and American religious history. I have also read widely on my own about comparative religion. My main area of knowledge is Christianity (mostly Protestantism), but I am also familiar with Islam and Judaism. I have written journalistic articles about Christianity, Islam and Buddhism. I am happy to work with students studying religion as an academic subject at religiously affiliated and secular schools and colleges.
As an editor, I know many ways to remember commonly misspelled words, and I can teach them to you.
