Classical Private University in Ukraine (Other)
Hi, my name is Tania. I am originally from Ukraine where we speak two languages - Russian and Ukrainian. I have taught these languages to American Peace Corps Volunteers in Ukraine for 7 years and since I moved to the U.S. in 2010 I have taught Russian as a private tutor to more than 20 students of different ages and levels of proficiency. Most of my students have been diplomats from the Department of State or college students learning Russian.
I have a degree in foreign languages and a TESOL certificate. I have been teaching English for 10 years. Currently I'm working at one of the language schools in D.C. area. I love working with a group of students, but I also enjoy personal tutoring because it gives a chance to address the specific needs of each student as well as his/her learning styles which leads to best results in a short period of time.
I'm very efficient in teaching grammar, vocabulary expansion and conversation classes, and I always try to make my lessons interesting and exciting, so that the students have fun learning the language.
I'm a committed high-energy individual with distinct people skills. I bring integrity and enthusiasm to my work. Hi, my name is Tania. Tania is an amazing tutor. She is so sweet and friendly, not to mention extremely patient! I am so lucky to have found her here on Wyzant. I would recommend her to anyone without any hesitation!
It's easy to be a good tutor with excellent students like you.
Tania is an outstanding Russian tutor. She is not just a Russian who speaks Russian, she knows the grammar and she knows how to teach it. She can teach Russian so well to English speakers because she knows both Russian and English grammar. She is such a good Russian teacher that all I have to say is this: She knows ENGLISH grammar better than I do.
Tania is a great teacher. She has a very pleasant presence and conducts herself in such a way that each lesson has seemed much more like a social visit with a friend than a 'lesson'. Yet, at the same time, I am learning in each meeting and she never forgets to correct me when I err. I expect to achieve even more than what I wanted initially, before I leave for Russia next month.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have a degree in foreign languages and I have been teaching English for 8 years both to individual students and groups of people (up to 20 students at a time); all levels from beginner to advanced; ages from 5 to 50.
I often use a communicative approach, but I also try to focus on fluency and accuracy, both oral and written. The most important thing is to address each student's specific needs.
I try to make my classes interesting and exciting and spend a lot of time on preparation for them. I believe that being creative while teaching increases students' learning abilities.
I obtained a TESOL certificate in 2008 and I have experience teaching English to students from different countries and cultural backgrounds.
I am a native Russian speaker with a degree in linguistics. I have taught Russian to a number of Peace Corps Volunteers in Ukraine over a 5 year period of time. I think that Peace Corps has a unique methodology that has been working successfully for many years. In the past I conducted individual and group Russian classes to people whose age ranged from 20 to 60. I am patient, creative and always try to address each student's specific needs.
I am adept at teaching not only vocabulary and conversation classes but can also explain difficult grammar points and improve students' written skills.
If students are also interested in Russian/Ukrainian history and culture I use a lot of authentic materials (such as literature works, music, movies)during the class. Since I've lived in Ukraine most of my life I am very well familiar with slang and idiomatic language as well.
Except Russian I have also taught English for 8 years and this is still my main occupation so I definitely have sufficient teaching experience.
