Started my career as a business broker agent and moved into packaging businesses for acquisition. Nothing like working with a variety of business owners to see how it all works in real time. Moved in to teaching business applications, particularly spreadsheets and databases, and then into tech support for a PC manufacturing. Opened my own sports training business, which ran successfully for 15 years. Worked for four years at CPA firms, returned to school to earn all additional required credits to sit for the CPA exam, but decided I was more interested in small business accounting than tax and audit.
I have been serving a variety of small businesses for the past 8 years, primarily setting up books and proper accounting procedures, correcting erroneous books, and helping business owners get more management information from their accounting records. I am also a great fan of Toastmasters to promote public speaking skills.
Toastmasters Advanced Communicator Silver, officer in two Toastmaster clubs.
I have been using these programs for years - decades, actually - in real world situations.
I have assisted CEOs of small businesses in many capacities, and had my own successful business for 15 years.
I'm a great believer in accounting as a profession - it's not nearly as boring as some might think - and as a means of career advancement. It gives you a business-oriented understanding of a company you might be working for. Some understanding of financial reports is required of any upwardly-mobile manager! Kathleen taught me how to get started with Quickbooks and how to fix a few problems I was having. Also gave advice on some accounting procedures for a small business.
Kathleen was able to explain the basics of Quickbooks to a layperson who had no idea how to understand it before. She did a great job and we were able to work through our hurdles after just 3 hours with her!
Thanks so much, Jill, for all the stars! Nice to hear you got value from our appointment. Seems like you caught on easily once some of your questions were cleared up.
Kathleen was awesome! Even though I knew nothing of QuickBooks or Accounting, Kathleen took me from 0-45 in a matter of a few hours. She made Accounting and Quickbooks understandable for me and left me in a good place for our next session; The bottom line is that after my session with Kathleen I felt empowered to track my finances in my business...
It was a pleasure having Kathleen work with us - she is very personable and was quite informative on a number of areas with Quickbooks Online - we certainly received the assistance needed.
Thanks, Joni. Glad to know it was both useful and congenial.
I needed to learn more on the capabilities of qbo online for job purposes. Kathleen is very knowledgeable about qbo and accounting practices. Highly recommend.
Thanks, Sabina. You had a lot to cover, and your knowledge of the company goals and current practices helped a lot!
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have assisted a variety of businesses in establishing or improving their financial recording and reporting processes since 2005. I am oriented toward producing financial reports that are useful for management as well as tax reporting. My services include staff training and process documentation.
I have used Excel since the 1980s. I have taught it to individuals and business and government groups since the 1990s. I am well familiar with basic formula construction to spreadsheet design.
I taught computer applications one-on-one, in small group, and in auditorium-style classes from hourly to week-long classes.
I represented grassroots organization at group, town, county and state meetings. I am a Toastmaster Advanced Communicator Silver, and officer of two Toastmaster clubs.
I have used QuickBooks desktop and online for clients' and my own business for decades, and so am familiar with many versions and uses of the software.
I have found that many businesses under-utilize QuickBooks because they are not familiar with features that would speed processes or enhance the quality of their reports, and thus gain more business insight more rapidly.
As the most widely used accounting software for businesses, QuickBooks has been the core of my accounting servicees business, supplemented by WAVE and FreshBooks where those are suitable for the client.
