University of South Carolina (French)
Ever since I was a child, I've been always innately intrigued by languages and world cultures.
The first language aside from English I ever studied was Japanese. After arriving at the University of South Carolina, I knew I had to major in French. Surprisingly, I became captivated by Russian, motivated by the mere phonetic sounds of it. I was driven to take several courses in it.
In addition to my course study in Russian, I also did some in Spanish, as a continuation of independent and academic studies from my time in high school. In my fervor to learn more Russian, I became an English second language tutor for the EPI (English Program for Internationals) at the University of South Carolina, tutoring Russian students in the English language. As I tutored them in the English language fervently, they educated me informally concerning their Russian native tongue. In this experience, my apt for tutoring and teaching language became wholeheartedly awakened.
As a result, while still a student at the University of South Carolina, I zealously took on a role as a French and Spanish tutor at Midland's Technical college for their Upward Bound Program. Simultaneously, on Saturday mornings, I acted as teacher's assistant for a Spanish instructor within this program.
As an English second language tutor and a French and Spanish tutor, my tutoring style was commonly described in the most contagious sense, ignitedly stirring, sometimes more so animated in the most awakening sense and adaptable in respect to learning styles. Before graduating, I was fortunate enough to go abroad summer of 2008 where I put my French language skills to tremendous use in France. Within this same year I graduated with my bachelor's in French. My time spent as a tutor and teacher's assistant has affected me and given me rigorous preparation of returning to graduate school in order to become a French professor. Ever since I was a child, I've been always innately intrigued by languages and world cultures.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
