My name is Dr D and I am a scientist and professor of human anatomy & physiology. I did my university work in biomedical engineering & physics. My MS and PhD are in cardiovascular and hemodynamic physiology. As a professor, I have taught hundreds of students the principles of human anatomy & physiology over the past six years. I have also taught and tutored physics, statistics, differential calculus, algebra, organic chemistry, general chemistry, biostatistics, biochemistry, English literature & composition, human anatomy and physiology, biology, multivariable calculus. I have also helped students with the GREs, MCATs, PCATs, DATs as well as medical students with the USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 exams.

My key strength that I believe benefits the students I teach and tutor is being able to critically scrutinize information and incorporate various opinions/perspectives into my own. Doing so allows me to develop a thorough understanding about a topic. I then provide that knowledge to my students through comprehensive explanations and reinforced practice.

I believe a student should always feel comfortable with the people that are providing them education. My students usually seek out my help because of how uncomfortable they are with their current instruction and/or the material being taught. I work very hard to ensure that my students are at ease with me, enough so that they can learn more effectively and develop the sense of confidence that they are striving for. As an educator who has learned a lot over the years, I try to remember that students have various styles and methods of learning. As such, I must always remain open to self-edification and dynamically adapting to best suit the needs of someone asking for my help.

Here is how I tutor:
I tutor online using the Wyzant lesson space which allows me to share my screen and do lessons/lectures using my own online whiteboard. Usually a student will provide me with all of the material/notes and assignment(s) that they would like me to go over which then allows me to customize a lesson plan for us. Additionally, I use a combination of my own questions as well as the questions my student would like me to go over to reinforce any and all of the requisite concepts/principles. It is a very interactive process with text/video/voice chatting because I want my students to feel like they are engaged at all times. I hope this gives you a good idea of what to expect if you decide that you would like to work together. Also, I can provide you with some links to videos that outline exactly how I teach and tutor. Feel free to ask about those if you want to get a better idea of who I am as an instructor and tutor.

For those interested, I have taught and tutored numerous students from the following classes & institutions: -PUBH 6002 Biostatistical Applications for Public Health - GWU Milken Institute of Public Health My doctoral work was in cardiovascular physiology and hemodynamics which heavily emphasized the use of complex biostatistics, biochemistry, and computational modeling. I have been teaching and tutoring high school, undergraduate, masters, doctoral, medical, nursing, pharmacy, and dental students in statistics and biostatistics for more than a decade with my own comprehensive teaching curriculum.

MCAT

With backgrounds in biomedical engineering & physics, biochemistry, biostatistics, and human anatomy & physiology, I am very comfortable with all of the content that is tested on the MCAT. I couple that knowledge with extensive experience with critical analyses and comprehensive problem solving strategies to help my students achieve the scores they desire. I have helped more than a hundred students with the MCAT exam over the past ten years achieve scores in the >85th-90th percentile.

BioStats explained

Dr. D. was the second tutor I used for my graduate BioStatistics class. He was excellent. He understood how I personally process material which is crucial for successful instruction. I will use him for the remainder of my term. I haven’t been in a math class for over a decade and he was patient and motivating. I highly recommend him.

Makes graduate level biostatistics a breeze

Dr. D. and I went over how to use the Z table to find the probability that corresponds with the appropriate Z score. We also went over percentiles and scaling. Dr. D. has an amazing ability to simplify complex concepts in a way that is easy to understand and fun to learn. I highly recommend him.

Dr. D. has an excellent talent for communicating difficult concepts in plain language.

Off to a good start in biostatistics. Feeling more confident about doing well in this class after our first session. Excellent input on how to use the text.

Best math tutor ever!

I'm taking a graduate level biostatistics class as part of my MPH degree. Despite having no background in math Dr. D. broke down biostatistics in a way that was easy to understand, and also made the learning process fun. I started out as a nervous novice, and by the end of our session I had confidently grasped the concepts. Dr. D. also provides all the materials you need and uses his own unique curriculum to reinforce learning. I highly recommend him. Excellent first class. I'll be booking him again for more sessions.

Extremely helpful and friendly

Chand was the most phenomenal tutor I have ever had. He simplified statistics into practical terms so that I could understand my testing material. He went out of his way to schedule additional tutoring with me before my test day
