Hello, I am excited to help you with your studies! I have Bachelor's and Master's degrees in International Relations, so I am well-versed in American History, Geography, Political Science, World History, and World Politics. (This also means I have written tons of papers!) I volunteered during my undergrad teaching ESL in the local community and I found that very rewarding as well. I work with internationals in my day job, so I have a deep understanding for other cultures and many of the challenges of English. I have done a lot of editing for papers at all levels of study (high school, college, post-grad, including thesis papers).

I enjoy helping others learn and grow in their academic pursuits. I know that not everyone grasps a subject immediately the first time and may need some extra assistance. There are many ways to learn and not all of those are utilized in a traditional classroom setting. Hopefully, I will be able to help students grow and also become excited about the subject matter.

I have a love of reading and literature (especially British literature)! I have also tutored in English for students in high school and have volunteered in teaching ESL. I love language and the ways that thoughts, feelings and emotions are set to words. Using your imagination and creativity are also important factors in writing, but you also have to remember the basics of sentence/paragraph structure.

Besides my academic qualifications, I really do enjoy the subject matter. I find the combination of history, culture, government fascinating, especially in these times where we have access to so much that is going on around the world at any given time.

I am excited to help you on your academic journey! I am approachable, patient, and positive - 3 things that I think make the learning process easier.

Knowledgeable and very flexible

Kathryn is tutoring my children in reading, comprehension, writing, and prepare my son for PSAT. She is a great tutor. She takes the time to find out where my kids weaknesses, and then teaches from there. She is very flexible with her schedule. What I like about her is her organization, confidence and being patience with my children that she provided. We met with so many tutors after one of the kids tutor moved out of town. I am so glad that we met with Kathryn after the 1st lesson and I know that I found the right tutor for my kids with no doubt. I would refer her to anyone.

Very resourceful and efficient

She provided techniques to writing lengthy papers and suggestions for my research. Kathryn's easy to follow approach to writing made sense and was very helpful as I developed my paper.
