Hi! My name is Sarah and I have been teaching professionally for 3 years in both public and charter schools. I've taught sixth grade (math, language arts, social studies) and have also taught middle school ESL. I'm very familiar with IEPs and learning plans and have great experience making material accessible to ALL students. Currently, I'm completing coursework to be certified as a Montessori primary teacher (3-6 year olds). I enjoy working with students from diverse backgrounds and my ideal teaching situation is working one on one with students, and in small groups.
Before teaching, I worked on a team that created online adult learning courses for the State Department. Teaching and education have been part of my professional life for years and I'm excited to have the opportunity to work with you! In my free time, I enjoy gardening, mentoring, reading, exploring new cities, and biking with my husband in our community.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
