Bonjour! My Ph.D. is in French. I have been teaching French for 26 years and have lived and studied in France and Québec. I tutor in the DC Metro Area and on Skype. I ran my own language school for 4 years, was the Foreign Language Department Head at the Field School for 3 years and have been doing private tutoring full time for the past 6 years.
I have taught preschool, elementary school, middle school, high school & college so I know the academic expectations for every grade level. My youngest students are 2 years old and my oldest students are senior citizens. I work with home school children and families. I do crash courses in French for people traveling to French speaking countries on vacation or for business purposes. In addition to working with individuals of all ages and levels I tutor members of the State Department and other government agencies, non-governmental organizations and businesses.
I specialize in exam prep. I have a 100% success rate with graduate school proficiency exams and the ACTFL exam. Students who study with me for the SAT II in French have great results; one of my students improved over 100 points. Of the students I have tutored for the Foreign Service French proficiency exam over the past six years all but one succeeded and went to post. My AP, IB, TEF, TCF and DELF students have all achieved the results they wanted.
I have a unique ability to assess students' abilities and get them the results they want in a very short period of time. Because I have taught every age and level of school and because I have prepared so many people for so many types of French proficiency exams I know exactly what students need to do in order to succeed and how to coach them through the process. People study with me because I get them where they want to go as quickly and as painlessly as possible.
Please contact me if you would like more information or schedule lessons. A bientôt j'espère. Bonjour! My Ph.D. is in French. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
