About Bibi

My goal as your math tutor is to improve your math study skills, study habits and improve your math grade.

By doing the following:
- Assist student with math homework.
- Prepare student for math class, math quizzes, tests and exams.
- Teach student how to study the textbook outside the classroom.
- Teach student to manage their time and develop better study habits and skills.

The overall goal is to increase students' interest in mathematics and reduce or completely take away any anxiety and stress with this subject. This will help improve their confidence in math and ultimately make them a better student.

My program requires participation from parent, teacher and student. I work very closely with the school's math curriculum and the family's schedule.

I offer weekday evening and weekend morning/afternoon sessions. If you require weekday morning sessions, that can be arranged as well.

I provide Winter Break, Spring Break and Summer Break tutoring sessions. I also offer sessions on school closure days.
I offer individual and group sessions as well.

My hours are flexible. I try to accommodate family busy schedules.

I look forward to hearing from you and working with you.

Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra 1

I substitute as an Algebra 1 teacher at Hayfield Secondary school. I use the same textbook used in the school district. I'm very familiar with the SOL requirements. I currently have 3 other Algebra 1 students I'm working with.

Algebra 2

I have taken several SOL practice tests online. I use the same Algebra 2 textbook used in FCPS.
I am familiar with the curriculum and know a few Algebra 2 teachers in the area.

Elementary Math

I work with 5th through 8th grade math students both as a tutor and as a substitute teacher for FCPS.

Prealgebra

I work with a lot of 6th, 7th and 8th graders taking prealgebra and I have help them prepare for this subject and also get them ready for Algebra.

SOL

For the past two years, I have worked with 5th through 12th grade students to help them prepare for their Math Standard of Learning (SOL) exams, as well as other entrance exams. Math SOLs include 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th, Algebra 1 and Algebra 2 SOL exams.
At our 1st meeting, I prepare a test packet to test student on their existing knowledge of grade level. Based on the test score, I focus on the topics that need attention.
I offer both individual and group SOL study sessions because some students work better preparing for tests in a group, but also need the one-on-one time with me.
Last year, all of my 6th grade and Algebra 2 student passed their SOLs with high scores.

Very pleased!

My daughter was having a difficult time with algebra concepts but Bibi was able to breakdown my daughter's fear of math. She let her know that she knew the basics of math then she could do any math. She got over fear of algebra thanks to Bibi and successfully passed her algebra SOL.
