I am a bilingual English and Spanish speaker (fluent English / Native Spanish). I offer tutoring assistance to students (pre-K through 12; college) and adults who want to learn Spanish or to improve their existing Spanish language skills. My approach is tailored to each individual and focuses on positive reinforcement using a combination of age, grade, or customer-specific exercises, conversational practice sessions, and reviews of reading, writing, grammar, and specific themes or topics as needed or requested (e.g., nursery rhymes, stories, business, etc.). Of course, if you are simply looking for someone to practice conversational Spanish with to keep your skills sharp and/or to increase your vocabulary and speaking ability, that's fine as well! Iliana did a great job helping me with very specific problems I was having with Spanish. She provided exercises that focused on these areas, and reviewed them with me until I understood them. She also provided other resources that I could study on my own. Additionally, she speaks English very well, which sometimes can be a problem with foreign language tutors. She stayed in contact and always arrived for sessions on time. I would highly recommend her.
We've enjoyed Iliana’s tutoring as she was a good communicator and she knows her Spanish very well. She brought materials with her that were useful. She is patient and was able to work with our pace of learning. We strongly recommend her.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
