About Robert

My passion for teaching comes from my love of learning. I discovered early in life the most effective teachers are those who listened to what the student is saying and the asking questions to discover the needs of the learner. Learning is conversation. I am eager to tutor individuals in United States history as well as the rest of the world. I have taught and guiding many students in my life and I am pleased to have them now call me friend. I'm a very kind and gentle individual and will treat everyone with respect. I'm available to meet with you just about any date and time of the week except Sunday. Approved subjects are in bold.

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

American History

Ever since the 1960’s I have been a student of US History and politics. During college in West Virginia I was the central West Virginia director and coordinator for a presidential campaign. United States government and politics are more than just a hobby for me. I have been engaged at all levels of historic political campaigns, federal, state and local. I believe with my background and experience I can provide insights that most of your tutors would be unable to do.

Bible Studies

In Biblical teaching I believe that the purpose of Christian education/teaching is to strengthen the mission of the church and individuals with the biblical understanding of faith, as well as to strengthen Christian life. I have led numerous Bible studies, growth groups, and spiritual retreats that provide much guidance for people seeking spiritual faith. My background in education makes me a highly qualified individual to teach biblical studies. I earned a Doctorate Degree (D. Min.) from McCormick Theological Seminary, Chicago, IL in 1988; the Master’s Degree (M. Div.), Pastoral Care/Theology from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, Louisville, KY in 1976; and a Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.), Religion & Philosophy from Salem University, Salem, WV in 1973.
