I realize it can be humbling and uncertain to bring in a tutor to help your child. But it just might be the best decision you've ever made to help your child advance. One-to-one teaching is by far the best way to learn quickly, but teachers at school simply don't have the time to work closely with every student. I can help.
I am a currently-licensed teacher in VA, TN and GA with expertise in Social Studies and endorsements in Middle School Math, Middle School Science, Technology Education, Business Education and Health & PE. I have a friendly and accepting style, and believe that multimedia like video makes learning more interesting.
In addition to the above subjects, I can also tutor in Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, Algebra II, Trigonometry and Geometry. In addition, I am very knowledgeable about Computers and the Internet, and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
I've always loved teaching and kids (we have two teenagers), and my own children have always called me the "Fun King". I was in corporate sales for 20+ years in health care and technology, and also started and ran a small business. I am a superb writer and eagle-eye proofreader, and can teach any student to write much better.
I feel confident that your child would make impressive improvements with my tutoring.
Thank you! Greetings -

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I love American History! It's great to learn about those who paved the way before us, and how they overcame so many obstacles to help create our great country. Kids can start liking History if it's presented in interesting and creative ways, which I always strive for.
I was a three-year varsity starter (shooting guard) in high school, played one year of college basketball, played one season of club basketball in Germany and played many years of County rec league basketball at a very high-level. I am an excellent shooter and a good ball handler. I coached Jr High basketball and am very knowledgeable about the game. Even though I'm in my fifties now and can't run full court like I used to, I can still shoot the lights out and would definitely be able to help your son, especially with his shooting and ball handling.
In addition to the WyzAnt subjects in which I've gotten certified, I have also passed the national Praxis exams in high school Social Studies, Business Education, Health and PE and Middle School Math.
In addition, I have taught a "Computers and the Internet" class in high school. I have also started and run a small business for seven years and was in corporate sales for over 20 years.
Also, I have been a substitute teacher in elementary schools numerous times with great results.
Lastly, my wife and I have successfully raised two kids through their elementary school years and they are now well-adjusted teenagers (15 and 13 years old).
Therefore, I feel very confident that I would be a great tutor for elementary school students.
