Hello! My name is Juliana and I recently graduated from BYU with my bachelor's degree in chemistry. At university, I was a chemistry teaching assistant for about 4 years, teaching general, organic, and biophysical chemistry. As these classes are widely dreaded and commonly failed, I worked hard to find novel and fun teaching methods to explain the concepts and help each student succeed. Instead of helping my students memorize facts that will promptly be forgotten, I seek to teach the principles in a way that will make sense to each student. Seeing my students succeed gives me a lot of joy.
In addition to my university teaching experience, I also have experience tutoring high school students in chemistry, math, and physics. This past summer, I was a counsellor at a STEM summer camp, teaching basic scientific principles to children ages 4–12. Each age presents its own blessings and challenges, but I believe that any student can succeed in assigned, age-appropriate coursework with appropriate assistance and encouragement.

I have used math extensively at university, but I realize that many students find it challenging. As I tutor math, I seek to help students walk through problems, explaining their thought process and rationale as they go. As students understand what is being asked in the question, I can help them understand what steps to take to solve not only that specific problem, but also similar problems on their own.

I loved chemistry in high school, and have been tutoring it informally and formally ever since. I have extensive experience teaching all levels of chemistry, from elementary school students up to graduating university seniors. I am passionate about this subject and find unique analogies to make chemistry fun for all my students.

I look forward to helping you (or your children) reach their academic goals. Contact me, and let's get going!

Very sweet and accommodating

She is the perfect tutor for chemistry! I am a college student doing online Gen Chem 1. She uses analogies that make sense and knows how to work with your teaching style. Only issue for me was figuring out a place to meet. If you live in Salt Lake proper, she might not be the best fit unless you're willing to drive!! Other than that, sweet girl and I would recommend her to anyone needing help with Chem.

Patient and sweet!

We worked on Chemistry unit conversions. She broke down the information very well for me to understand. I needed help on the topic for an upcoming quiz because I was completely lost. After the tutor session I made an 80% on the quiz. :)

Such a relief! Very knowledgeable and helpful.

Juliana helped my daughter start to understand her notes in pre-calculus that her teacher does not have time to explain. She helped her understand in the first hour how to solve some of her problems for homework and understand how they got the answer. I would highly recommend and definitely will be scheduling more sessions.
