My name is Erin, and I'm an elementary teacher. I earned my BA in Liberal Studies and my California teaching credential at CSU East Bay. After that, I taught at three different accelerated private schools around the Bay Area. Then I got my Utah teaching license and moved to Utah, where I currently teach in a public charter school.
I can't imagine any career for myself besides teaching. I love working with my students and helping them learn. There is nothing better than that "aha"...

I can't imagine any career for myself besides teaching. I love working with my students and helping them learn. There is nothing better than that "aha" moment when a student suddenly grasps a difficult concept. I have also taught science at a STEAM summer camp and tutored students K-12 for many years. Tutoring is a wonderful opportunity to get to know my students one on one and really address their individual needs. I love helping them tackle their academic challenges and helping them flourish!
This is my 12th year teaching elementary school. I am currently teaching 3rd grade, and have also taught kindergarten, first, and second. I earned a California teaching credential and have a current Utah teaching license.
I have always had a passion for books and literature, and strive to be well-read. Learning about linguistics and the history of language is a hobby of mine, and I've even been known to diagram sentences for fun. I also love to share my knowledge and passion with others!
Phonics is an amazing equalizer when it comes to helping all students learn to read. Having taught kindergarten and first grade at an accelerated private school, I am well versed in phonics and teaching phonics. I am also familiar with Spalding and have utilized it heavily to help struggling readers catch up.
