Let me teach you about computers/software (Mac/Windows), reading, writing, history, politics, screenwriting, producing, directing, shooting, editing, motion graphics...I live for these things. I've handled production budgets as high as $40,000, supervised as many as 29 cast and crew on one shoot, done the film school thing, worked on the camera crew of a feature film (Redemption: For Robbing the Dead). Fictional narratives and documentaries, long and short...done that. One of my former 1st Assistant Directors calls me "a Swiss-Army Knife of a filmmaker."
I look forward to introducing you to the world of filmmaking / media arts. Learn hands-on as I walk you through the use and care of over $24,000 of production gear I own (cameras, audio, lighting, grip, dolly/crane, etc). Make complete projects from concept to budget to casting to final edit (I offer those I tutor discounted gear rental rates when you're ready to make your own shows / movies / web videos / documentaries). Get a dash of film history, screenwriting structure, practical gear operation, storytelling theory and emerge a media creator with powerful new skills to use on any projects you encounter later on. Let's create! Lessons that involve the use of my $24,000 of production gear (cameras, lenses, lights, wireless lavs, etc) include a $50/hr rental fee on top of my normal hourly tutor fee.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I finished film school, and have shot both long and short documentaries and fictional narratives.
I've produced and directed projects with budgets as high as $40,000, I own $24,000 of production gear and I've been shooting video for 8 years. I know what I'm talking about, both because of my education and my experience.
I've been using Macs for 8 years. I upgrade my own systems with new batteries, RAM and harddrives. I own six Mac devices (2 laptops, 2 phones, 2 ipads) and know how to navigate the system beyond the obvious GUI options.
Photography is the basis of cinematography, which I studied in film school. I understand how aperture, ISO, shutter speed, framing/composition, white balance, time of day, lens focal length, weather, texture, line, shape, tone, color, and theme inform a photograph. I've been shooting photos since 2005 with my first Nikon D70s.
In college, I studied the philosophy of religion and have independently studied world religions. I know the foundational principles behind Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Judaism, etc.
