My name is Paula. I am a native Spanish speaker preparing to get my Bachelors degree in Spanish Translation at Brigham Young University. I will start to take Spanish 355 in this Spring Semester. I would like to apply my knowledge and my talents in order to help my students to speak, write, read an excellent, fluent Spanish.
I have ten years' experience teaching Spanish to adults and youth one-on-one. I enjoy teaching with common questions and conversations in daily life, traditions and culture of Latin America countries, as well as through music. With the reading, I like to discuss the message of it. Going out to markets and places where students can practice their Spanish produces great results. I believe that when you breakfast, lunch and dinner in Spanish you get it. It means conversation, listening, reading, enjoying the things you like but in Spanish are the best ways to get it. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been taking classes at the University of Brigham Young in order to get a Bachelor in Spanish Translation. One of them was Writing 150, which included essays and many project with the use of the rhetoric. Also, I taught ESL when I was living in New Jersey working for a private school in beginners to advanced levels. I think to take as a minor journalism because I love writing.
Teaching Spanish is not a job it is my pleasure giving me the opportunity of sharing one of the Romance Languages plenty of terms, vocabulary, expressions.
Its literature is one of the best around the world. In Spanish you can express with ten words something that in other language you only are going to need one or two words.
I am very pleasant when I see people from other cultures taking advanced Spanish because they want to teach it in the future and just because they really enjoy the language and also because they love the culture too.
I am very thankful for the opportunity of sharing my first language. Believe me both are going to enjoy during the classes.
