I have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. I have passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. I have experience tutoring a variety of engineering subjects and hope to be able to help you succeed in the demanding classes characteristic of engineering. I also like to offer tips on test taking, balancing school and life, studying effectively, and finding the best available resources for help.

Effective learning takes teamwork. I really enjoy being involved in collaborative education because I think that being able to teach a concept or subject is the best way to keep it sharp in the mind. Likewise, my approach to tutoring is focused more around a discussion than a lecture style, where you and I are able to figure out the material together. We'll talk through your ideas and reasons as we work out example problems and review key concepts.

I am familiar with a wide range of topics. I passed 11 AP tests (Human Geography, European History, Spanish Language, English Language, English Literature, Statistics, Calculus, Psychology, Physics Mechanics, US Government, and Comparative Political Science), and participated in my University's Honors program specifically to make my broader education more meaningful. Because of this, I am eager to work with students who might be struggling in topics that aren't necessarily their favorite subject to find ways to build from things they are already familiar with.

Most of my formal tutoring experience has been at a collegiate level, specifically working with student-athletes. I also have lots of informal experience teaching things like sports, cooking, and school subjects to younger age groups, from elementary school to high school. I love seeing students get excited about a topic as they have success with it. I am a big believer in helping kids get a good academic start as early as possible to shape their future.

I am excited to get together with anyone else who loves learning and is willing to work hard to overcome those difficult classes that we all get stuck in!

Awesome Tutor!

Silvia is a great tutor! We met online and she helped me with my grad school essays! She is easy to work with, very kind and taught me a lot along the way! I will probably use her in the future and would recommend her to everyone!

Great Tutor

Silvia is a great tutor. She helped me study for my General Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and I passed! Silvia was easy to work with since day one and was also very flexible. Communication is key and Silvia does a great job of it. I told her what I struggled and needed help with. I asked her what her strengths and weaknesses were in terms of materials to which she was very transparent with which I appreciated. We went through statics, dynamics, fluids, and thermodynamics for a total of 7 sessions and ~9 hours. I never felt judged with Silvia. She was patient with me and cracked many punny jokes along the way. Throughout our sessions, Silvia would also provide test taking strategies which I found quite beneficial. I would recommend Silvia!

She's an Incredible Tutor!!

Silvia was fantastic! She helped me study for my fundamentals of engineering (FE) exam, and I passed! Communication on my end about the general topics I wanted to cover for each lesson was expected, but once she knew a direction, Silvia drove into the specifics. She did vocabulary review, walked through conceptual questions, and suggested easy memorization methods, all while covering the engineering questions. She was on time, held flexible hours, very patient, and cracked funny engineering puns. I learned a lot with Silvia, and was very pleased with the outcome. Get Silvia for tutoring, you won't regret it!

Dependable, patient and curriculum appropriate...

Silvia initially started tutoring my 5th graders well over a year ago. She started working with one and did so well that awhile ago, fearing my other twin was falling behind a bit, I had her start working with him too. She has done an amazing job with both of them. Not only does she assist them in learning current application, but also introduces them to "future" curriculum items and works with them to learn these concepts so when they are exposed in school, they do better! She has been patient, kind, and very accommodating even on the days that the boys would rather be doing anything but tutoring... They have made major improvements in school, and without Silvia, I fear this would never have happened! She will do great for you too!
