I have been playing the piano since I was eight years old. I outgrew my local teachers by age 12, then continued to learn/play on my own until I was of age to attend college. I continued my study of the piano for three more years while pursuing a music education degree.
While in college, I studied music theory and sight-singing/ear-training for two years while participating in the chamber choir. In addition, I began learning music composition and MIDI technology to begin my own music production.
I love to learn and pass that knowledge on to others. I have taught music lessons for several years to children and adults alike.
I am easy-going and friendly, which helps when tutoring or teaching in any subject. I'm quite skilled at not only piano performance/technique, but music in general from classical to modern.
I will do everything I can to help you achieve your goals. I want to make a career out of music through teaching/tutoring and providing lessons so that I can further the cause of music which I believe to be one of the most important on earth. In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
I have been studying classical music since I was a teenager, including years of music theory in college devoted to understanding its composition. Additionally I received a year of education in music composition and the beginning of music production. I have produced an album of my own with the help of a friend.
I took two years of sight-singing and ear-training in college. I've been participating in choir since I was 12 which applies this knowledge. I've been playing the piano for over 20 years and participated in several jazz ensembles which require improvisation - being able to hear chords, melodies and such is required to do so.
