University of Utah (English)
Although today's society seemingly doesn't put much stock in it, I am passionate about English as a subject. Whether it's writing, grammar, linguistics, literary analysis, vocabulary, proofreading, or just putting together a cohesive and intelligible sentence (somewhat of a lost art, sadly), it's all right up my alley. I want to pass on what I have learned and hopefully instill in my students a love for a subject that can make them better understood, persuasive, and polished in all aspects of their communication. People who can craft a grammatically-correct resume, for example, have a greater chance of landing a job, whatever it might be (believe me, I've done a lot of hiring myself). English can even teach a dedicated student how to think critically and analyze problems in a way no other subject can.
With me as your tutor, you will learn how to construct a well-polished thesis, how to write a cohesive essay with no punctuation, spelling or grammar errors, and how to successfully analyze a piece of literature. I specialize in the following areas: writing, grammar, linguistics, literary analysis (poetry or prose), vocabulary, proofreading, poetry, etc. I am also well-versed in (and passionate about!) Shakespeare's works, so if you need any help in that arena, I'm the guy for the job. Whatever your needs are with English, I know I can help.
As a tutor, I am sensitive to the needs of my students, and never go at a faster pace than they can handle. And although I strive to create as thorough and comprehensive lessons as possible, if they aren't working for you, I can certainly adjust and adapt them to suit you better.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in English from the University of Utah (where I maintained a high GPA in my English courses), and achieved high scores on the English ACT and AP English exams.
I hope to hear from you soon so we can start learning together. Although today's society seemingly doesn't put much stock in it, I am passionate about English as a subject. Whether it's writing, grammar, linguistics, literary analysis, … Read more
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
