University of Utah (Linguistics)
I arrived in US when I was 11 years old with no prior knowledge of English. When I entered my first school in US, I met my first 5th grade teacher; her name was Mrs. Dearheart. She was kind, patient and understanding knowing that I did not know a single word in English. Through this wonderful experience, I knew I wanted to do something like what she did and that is to teach others English with as much kindness; patience and understanding as Mrs. Dearheart gave to me in learning.
Since then, I have graduated with a degree in Linguistics and got certified in TESOL to teach students of various cultural backgrounds and languages. My experience extends from teaching privately to students in France for preparation for their Le Bac exam (college entrance exam), to being a Para-Pro for kindergarteners in US, and now teaching and making lesson plans for adult students from Asia, South and Central America.
I love tutoring because I can give my undivided attention to that particular student whatever his or her needs might be. And since it is one on one, I am able to tap into what type of learner (visual, auditory, kinesthetic, or all three) they are and prepare my lessons accordingly for them. I love to see their accomplishments as well as, their eagerness to learn.
I know how it feels to struggle in learning a language; hence, I can empathize with that individual from both sides of the bridge, as a former student and now as a teacher.
Whether you are from another country or home grown, I will do my best to help you achieve your best in the areas that you have the most trouble in English. Together as a team, we will succeed!

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
