About Spencer

I started tutoring back when I was 17 years old at the community college I was enrolled in at the time. Subjects I tutored there included algebra, pre-algebra, discrete mathematics, quantitative literacy, statistics, calculus (single and multivariable), as well as Java/C++ introductory-level programming.

Tutoring began as something I did out of obligation, as my parents wanted me to hold some form of a job after graduating from high school so early on. A few weeks into my initial semester on the job, I started to take great pride in the fact that more so than serving as a crutch for the students that I helped one-on-one, my step-by-step instruction and clear statements of logic and methodology had compelled many students to no longer require my services. When you equip students with the right resources and promote the proper studying and critical thinking habits, that is when you are truly fulfilling your duty as a tutor.

Finished Calculus 1 & 2 (AP equivalents) by end of Sophomore year of high school. Received 5/5 on AB/BC exams).
Received 35/36 on Math Portion of the ACT w/o practice.
Obtained As in all math classes taken throughout high school/college (including discrete math, elementary statistics, Calculus III, etc.)
Obtained As in intro & intermediate levels of C++ and Java (object-oriented programming).

If you want to learn at an accelerated pace and you are willing to redefine your outlook on mathematics or computer science, get in touch with me today!

Approved subjects

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.
